Moon Flower feels like a tiny garden growing over a crescent moon.

That little garden is built piece by piece.

I laser-cut the crescent from 2 mm American linden wood, then create the floral elements separately. Bright yellow and warm orange flowers are painted by hand and layered over deep green engraved leaves, giving the design real dimension instead of making the flowers look like a flat pattern on the surface.

I repeat that floral composition on both sides.

It takes more work, but it means the garden doesn’t disappear when the earrings turn. Whether the crescent faces forward or shifts as you move, the layered flowers and leaves remain part of what you see rather than giving way to a plain unfinished back.

Then there are two small leaves hanging beneath each moon.

Unlike the layered pieces above them, these leaves are free to move. They sway independently as you walk, adding just enough motion to make the little garden feel almost alive.

That combination of fixed layers and moving pieces is what gives Moon Flower its character.

At approximately 2 inches including the hook, the earrings have plenty of visual detail without needing to be large. The 2 mm American linden wood keeps the construction lightweight, so the layered flowers and moving leaves can create presence without the heavy pull that often comes with dimensional statement earrings.

Hypoallergenic bronze-tone hooks provide a more comfortable option for ears that may be sensitive to some metals.

Once the painting and assembly are complete, I finish the wood with linseed oil to help protect the surface while preserving the natural texture, engraved details, and handmade character of the material.

There is a little bit of contrast everywhere in this pair: flowers against a moon, bright color against deep green, pieces that stay still beside pieces that move. Somehow, they all belong together.

Outfit idea: Pair them with a muted denim-blue or dusty indigo top, warm tan trousers, and simple bronze-tone accessories. The cooler blue gives the yellow, orange, green, and red tones room to stand out without making the outfit feel overly coordinated. For a softer look, try a warm oatmeal top with medium-wash denim.
