With Tribal Spirit, the detail comes from what is engraved into the wood—not from color added over it.

I leave the American linden completely unpainted so the natural grain remains visible across the entire earring. The geometric pattern is created through laser engraving, allowing the darker lines to sit directly against the warm tone of the wood. Depending on the grain of each piece, those lines meet a slightly different natural surface every time.

That simplicity is intentional. There is no layer of paint competing with the material, and no attempt to make one piece of wood look exactly like another. The engraving gives the design its structure; the wood gives it its character.

I engrave the same pattern on both sides. So when the earrings turn with your movement, there isn’t a blank back suddenly facing outward. You continue to see the geometric detail and natural wood from either direction.

At approximately 2 inches including the hook, they have enough size for the engraved pattern to be noticed while the 2 mm American linden construction keeps them lightweight. Hypoallergenic bronze-tone hooks also provide a more comfortable option for ears that may be sensitive to some metals.

After engraving, I treat the wood with linseed oil. It helps protect the surface without covering what makes this pair distinctive—the grain, subtle shifts in tone, and darker marks left by the laser.

Tribal Spirit is one of those designs where adding more would change what makes it work. The interest is already there in the contrast between precise engraved lines and a material that will never be perfectly uniform.

Outfit idea: Pair them with a deep rust or terracotta top and charcoal trousers for a warm, earthy look with stronger contrast. For something softer, try forest green with cream or oatmeal-colored bottoms and simple bronze-tone accessories.
