Sun Whisper is one of those designs where two very different materials seem to belong together.

The upper section begins as a piece of 2 mm American linden wood. I laser-cut and engrave the floral design, then paint it by hand in warm coral, green, yellow, and small blue-green details while leaving some of the natural wood visible beneath the artwork.

Then the earring changes completely.

Along the lower opening, I add the fibers by hand, knotting the strands individually in soft yellow, cream, and coral-orange tones. The wood gives the earring its shape and structure; the loose fibers bring softness, texture, and movement.

That contrast is what gives Sun Whisper its personality.

At approximately 5 inches including the hook, this is undeniably a long statement earring. But creating that length with American linden wood and lightweight fiber means you can have dramatic movement without relying on the amount of heavy metal often found in oversized earrings.

The strands move freely as you walk instead of holding one stiff shape, so the earring feels different from every angle.

The wooden floral section is painted on both sides as well.

That matters with a piece this long because movement is part of the design. When the earring swings or turns, you are not suddenly looking at a forgotten unfinished back.

Hypoallergenic gold-tone hooks offer a more comfortable option for ears that may be sensitive to some metals.

Once the painting is complete, I finish the wood with linseed oil to help protect it while keeping the natural grain and handmade character visible.

What I like most about Sun Whisper is that it doesn’t try to make handmade work look perfect.

The fibers are knotted by hand. The strands don’t all fall in exactly the same way. The painted floral details carry the small variations that happen when something passes through human hands rather than a production line.

And in this design, those little differences belong there.

The wood brings nature into the piece; the macramé brings movement. Together they create something bold without feeling hard or overly polished.

Outfit idea: Pair them with a soft cream or warm ivory blouse, relaxed medium-wash denim, and simple gold-tone accessories. Keeping the clothing quiet gives the coral, yellow, cream, and green details room to stand out. For a little more contrast, try them with a muted olive-green top and light neutral trousers.
